Jordan River Blitz Backyard (October 17, 2026)
The Jordan River Blitz Backyard is held at East River Front Park in South Jordan, Utah. The event is organized by Happy Trails Running and offers three timed backyard formats: 4-hour, 8-hour, and 12-hour Blitz races. Each format uses a repeated loop structure on the same course.
Course and format
The loop is 4.167 miles, fully paved, with about +45 ft elevation gain per loop and no road crossings. Runners complete one loop each hour and must finish the loop within the hour to receive credit. The Blitz variation records individual lap times and uses both loops completed and cumulative lap time to determine placement. Live timing displays each runner’s lap times and cumulative total. Capacities are capped at 60 runners per format to reduce trail congestion.
- 4 Hours - 16.7 miles (+180 ft)
- 8 Hours - 33.3 miles (+360 ft)
- 12 Hours - 50 miles (+540 ft)
Logistics, awards, and rules
The start/finish area has shade, a pavilion, grassy areas, and ample free parking. The course is marked with pink flags, cones, and signs. All runners who complete at least one loop receive a finisher medal; those who complete 12 loops receive a custom leather patch beanie for the 50-mile effort. Aid at the finish includes snacks, an electrolyte drink (Tailwind), Great Harvest Bread at the 4-hour conclusion, and pizza at the 8- and 12-hour conclusions. Photographers provide free photos without watermarks. Rules prohibit artificial aid (including trekking poles) and pacers; crew and support are allowed in the starting area and slower runners must allow passes.
