Jordan River Blitz Backyard : South Jordan, UT (October 17, 2026)
The event is a Backyard ultra held at East River Front Park on the Jordan River Trail in South Jordan, Utah. The course is a 4.167 mile loop on 100% paved trail with about +45 ft elevation gain per loop. The park offers large parking areas, shade, a pavilion, playground and grassy areas for spectators and crew. The course is marked with pink flags, cones, and signs. Live timing will report each runner's lap times and cumulative time during the race. Free photos will be taken on course and at the finish line and provided without a watermark using bib recognition.
Format, distances, awards, logistics and rules
Backyard loops are run once every hour; runners must complete each loop within the hour and may not start early. The event uses a "Blitz" format: every loop is timed and placements are decided first by distance completed, then by cumulative lap time for ties.
- 4 Hour Blitz - 16.7 miles (+180 ft)
- 8 Hour Blitz - 33.3 miles (+360 ft)
- 12 Hour Blitz - 50 miles (+540 ft)
All runners who finish at least one loop receive a finisher medal. Runners who complete 12 loops receive a leather patch beanie. Packet pickup is available the day before at Salt Lake Running in Sandy and there is race-day pickup at the venue. Aid at the start/finish includes snacks, Tailwind electrolyte drink, Great Harvest bread at the 4-hour conclusion, and pizza at the 8- and 12-hour conclusions. Capacity is capped at 60 runners for each distance to limit trail congestion. Rules include no artificial aid or pacers, no leaving the course except for restrooms once a lap begins, and requirement to be in the starting corral when each loop begins.
