About the race
Bear Canyon Trail Run takes place on October 10, 2026, in Sandy, Utah at 2860 Wasatch Blvd. The event offers multiple race distances and raises funds for a local individual or family in need.
- 5K : Trail run, approximately 400 feet elevation gain
- 11 miles : One-loop course, approximately 4,200 feet elevation gain
- 20 miles : Two-loop course, approximately 8,100 feet elevation gain
The 11-mile course is described as a scenic loop with the option to run it twice for the 20-mile challenge. The route uses trails in Hidden Valley Park, including the Trail of the Eagle and the Cherry Canyon Logging Trail, and features steep climbs and steep descents.
The event has a fundraising focus. Since 2013 the community has raised more than $69,000 for recipients facing serious hardship, and the event lists multiple supported recipients. Donations and an online auction contribute to the funds; the auction typically opens about one week before race day and remains open through the event. Race organizers provide information about the course, logistics, and donation options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
