Bear Trap Trail Races
Bear Trap Trail Races take place in Settlement Canyon near Tooele, Utah. The event uses three distinct loops through forested singletrack, dirt roads, exposed bench trails, ridgelines, and foothills with views of Tooele Valley and surrounding peaks.
Distances offered:
- Marathon Loops A, B and C, approximately 26.5 miles
- 23K Loops A and B, approximately 23 kilometers
- 10K Loop A, approximately 10 kilometers
The course is organized as three loops. Loop A is about 6.2 miles with roughly 1,800 ft of vert and mostly single-track. Loop B is about 8.6 miles with roughly 1,700 ft of vert and a mix of single and double-track. Loop C is about 8.2 miles with roughly 1,600 ft of vert and more double-track and dirt roads. Color course markings identify each loop.
The marathon combines all three loops and includes a 3.5 mile out-and-back summit section to Tooele Peak at about 9,600 ft. Reported total marathon elevation gain is about 8,000 ft. Aid is available only at the Start/Finish Area; adequate hydration, food, and gear for changing weather are recommended. Each distance has a hard cutoff time in hours. The event is USATF sanctioned and awards modest prizes to the top three men and women in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
