Isle of Wight Half Marathon : event overview
The Isle of Wight Half Marathon takes place on 16th August 2026 with Ryde Rowing Club (PO33 1ND) as race HQ. Entry is limited to 300 runners and the minimum age is 17. The event holds Race Licence No. #30153 and is operated under UKA rules; runners not conforming to the rules may be disqualified. Numbers and timing chips are issued at registration on race day. Online entry opens on 5th October 2025 and the closing date is 9th August 2026; a transfer deadline is set for 11th August 2026. On-the-day entries may be available, cash only, subject to sell-out. Entry fees: early bird to 1st February £18 affiliated / £21 unaffiliated (plus service charge); standard £20 affiliated / £23 unaffiliated; on-the-day cash £22 affiliated / £25 unaffiliated. Transfers, changes and refunds are subject to the organiser’s policy (refunds: up to 3 months before 90%, up to 2 weeks before 50%, less than 2 weeks 0%). No deferrals.
For safety and medical procedures, in-ear or over-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conduction headphones are allowed. Dogs are not permitted. Medical information supplied with an entry will be shared with the medical provider for race-day use and GDPR regulations will be followed. The official finish time limit is 3 hours 15 minutes (15 min/mile); the cut-off may be enforced at the race director’s discretion.
Course, venue and awards
The race is a two-lap, undulating half marathon course that starts and finishes in Appley Park. The route passes Ryde, Bullen Lane, Goddard’s Farm Lane, Attrill’s Lane (off-tarmac gravel), Nettlestone, Whitefield Woods (short bridleway section), Carpenters Road and St. Helens before returning to Appley and Ryde. Marker boards are placed at each mile. Water stations are provided at approximately 2m, 6m, 7.5m, 9.5m and 11m; runners should not litter outside the water stations. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs because of off-road terrain.
Race HQ facilities at Ryde Rowing Club include changing and shower facilities, secure bag storage and pay-and-display parking (including Appley car park). The rowing club is about a 20-minute walk along the esplanade from the pier where foot passenger ferries land. Awards include men’s and women’s overall 1st–3rd, U20 and 10-year veteran categories 1st–2nd, and teams of three 1st–3rd; overall winners may also receive veteran category prizes.
