Newport to Ryde
Newport to Ryde is a multi-terrain road race running between the county town of Newport and the coastal town of Ryde. The route is undulating and uses old railway lines, open farmland and tree-lined woodland paths, and offers views along the way. The course length is approximately 7 miles and a water station is provided at about 3.6 miles. The course includes Barton, New Fairlee Farm, Belmont Woods, Wootton Station, Fernhill to Lakeside, Firestone Copse Road, Newnham Lane, Bartons Corner and Dame Anthony’s Common, and finishes on the grounds of Ryde High School. The route is not suitable for wheelchairs due to stiles and extreme terrain.
Entry information and rules are set by the organiser. Entry is limited to 175 runners, minimum age 16. Entry fees are listed as £14 affiliated and £17 unaffiliated plus a service charge, with higher on the day fees. Numbers and timing chips are issued at registration. The race is operated under UKA rules and is subject to UKA anti-doping requirements. The official finish time limit is 1 hour 45 minutes; the cut off will be enforced at the race director’s discretion.
Venue arrangements include registration at the Methodist Church Hall, Quay Street, Newport, changing facilities at the start and transport of runners’ kit from the start to the finish. There are on street pay and display spaces at the start and limited free parking at the finish.
For safety, in-ear or over-ear headphones are not permitted, bone conducting headphones are allowed, and dogs are not permitted to run. Medical information provided with entries will be supplied to the medical provider and handled in line with GDPR.
