Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child
The Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child is a nonprofit athletic event held in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina. The course begins on the Isle of Palms and crosses the Isle of Palms Connector into Mount Pleasant before returning to the island. Participants move along a route that provides views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, local marshes, and regional wildlife.
The event offers two main distances for participants:
- 10K run
- 5K run or walk
This event marks its 35th year of operation as a fundraising effort. All proceeds are directed toward local organizations focused on the prevention of child abuse and supporting the healing of children and families within the Charleston area. To date, the race has contributed more than $1.3 million to local charities, including a contribution of $200,000 in the previous year.
The event includes a post-race festival with various amenities and activities. This gathering features live music, a dedicated area for children, and a presence from local vendors. There is an awards ceremony following the completion of the races where cash prizes are distributed. The festival also provides refreshments, including a beer garden for participants aged 21 and older. Both the race and the festival are organized to accommodate participants of various ages.
