Isle of Bute Sprint and Novice Triathlon
The Isle of Bute Triathlon takes place on 10 May 2026 and offers sprint and novice distances with team entry options. Entry limits are listed as 100 places for the Sprint and 40 places for the Novice. Team entries are accepted via the event's team categories.
The event is chip timed. Medals are awarded in each category and prizes are given to the overall male and female winners. All participants receive an event memento and a buffet is provided after the races. Results will be posted online within 24 hours of the event.
Event headquarters is Rothesay Leisure Centre, about a ten minute walk from the ferry terminal. Access to the island is via ferries from Wemyss Bay or Colintraive. Parking is limited with car parking available in George VI park and nearby areas; participants are requested not to park on the course. Accommodation options on the island include Bute Backpackers among other local establishments.
Race format and rules follow Triathlon Scotland regulations. Registration issues an electronic chip, swim cap, race number, safety pins and details on bike racking, the transition area and course maps. Swim waves and caps are provided for both distances. Helmets are mandatory and bicycles must be mechanically safe. No drafting on the cycle route and transition access is restricted to marshals and athletes.
