Isle of Bute Triathlon
The event takes place on 10 May 2026 on the Isle of Bute with Rothesay Leisure Centre as event HQ, about a ten minute walk from the ferry terminal. Two race distances are offered: Sprint and Novice. Entry limits are listed as 100 places for the Sprint and 40 places for the Novice.
Distances:
- Sprint: 750m swim / 20 km cycle road / 5 km run
- Novice: 400m swim / 13 km cycle road / 2.5 km run
This is a chip timed event. Medals are awarded in each category and prizes are given to the overall male and female winners. All participants receive a race memento and a buffet is provided after the race. Results will be posted online as soon as possible, normally within 24 hours.
Swims are held in pool format with waves: the Sprint uses five waves of 20; the Novice uses two waves of 20. Caps are provided. Bikes are racked in the transition area outside the HQ. The Sprint cycle is described as a 20 km out and back route on quiet country roads with hilly sections and a marshalled turn; the Novice follows the same route for a shorter distance. Runs use multi lap courses on mixed terrain including road, gravel and track.
The event follows the rules of Triathlon Scotland. Helmets are mandatory and bicycles must be in safe mechanical condition. Drafting rules and transition area restrictions apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
