Isle of Bute Sprint / Novice Triathlon
The event takes place on Isle of Bute on 10 May 2026 and is offered in two race distances: Sprint and Novice. Team entries are accepted alongside individual entries. The event uses electronic chip timing and posts results online, normally within 24 hours.
Distances:
- Sprint: 750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run
- Novice: 400m swim, 13km cycle, 2.5km run
Swims are held in a pool with wave starts and swimming caps provided. Bikes are racked in a transition area outside the event headquarters at Rothesay Leisure Centre. The cycle course is an out and back route on quiet country roads with hilly sections; marshals manage a turning point. The run follows laps around mixed terrain including road, gravel, and track.
Race procedures include a pre-race briefing, adherence to helmet rules, and compliance with the Highway Code while cycling. Drafting is prohibited and only marshals and athletes are allowed in the transition area. Medals are awarded in each category, prizes are given to the overall male and female winners, and all finishers receive an event memento. A buffet is provided after the race. Entry limits are 100 for the Sprint and 40 for the Novice. A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for non members with published fees.
