Goatfell Race, Brodick

The Goatfell Race is a single-day hill race held at Ormidale Pavilion in Brodick on the Isle of Arran. The course is 15.5 km with 870 m of ascent. It follows the main road north to Brodick Castle drive, then climbs to the summit of Goat Fell via the standard tourist path and returns the same route to the finish at Ormidale Pavilion.

Competitors must be 18 or older on the day of the race. Entry is limited to 200 places via online entries; on-the-day entries may be allowed at the race organiser’s discretion in the event of known late cancellations or if the limit has not been reached. The published entry fee is £16.

First aid cover is provided at the start and finish, with mountain support on the hill supplied by Arran Mountain Rescue. Public liability insurance is provided by Scottish Hill Runners. Mandatory kit requirements include a full body waterproof cover, hat, gloves and a whistle. Organisers may require carrying a mechanical compass and map and the ability to navigate if weather conditions are poor. In exceptionally poor weather a shorter route may be considered and the race organiser reserves the right to cancel the event if necessary.

Facilities at Ormidale Pavilion include changing rooms, toilets and baggage storage for competitors. Light refreshments will be available after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
