Kintyre Way Ultra
The Kintyre Way Ultra is a trail running event held on 9 May 2026 along the Kintyre Way in Argyll, Scotland. The 2026 route runs from Tayinloan via Carradale to Campbeltown, a total of 35 miles, and is the twentieth running of the event.
The course covers a variety of terrain including hill paths, forestry tracks, beaches, seaside rocks, bluebell woods and gorse fields. Runners can expect coastal and island views to Islay, Jura, Gigha, Arran and Ailsa Craig, with views to Northern Ireland possible from the southern section.
Distances and climbs for the three sections:
- Tayinloan to Carradale - 15 miles, 560 m climb
- Carradale to Corrylach - 15 miles, 720 m climb
- Corrylach to Campbeltown - 5 miles, 130 m climb
The route is fully waymarked using pale blue posts with distance markers at one mile intervals. Services include GPS tracking for runners (signal permitting), drop-bag transfer to two checkpoints, rucksack transfer to the finish, additional water stations between checkpoints, and timing. Finish facilities include refreshments, showers and free massage, and there is kids entertainment at the finish. Entry can be as a solo runner or as a relay team of two or three; relay runners enter individually and must provide their own transport to checkpoints. Entries close 11 April 2026.
