Kintyre Way Ultra
The 20th Kintyre Way Ultra takes place on 9 May 2026 on the Kintyre Way in Scotland. The event runs from Tayinloan to Campbeltown over 35 miles. The route uses varied terrain: hill paths, forestry tracks, beaches, seaside rocks, woods and gorse fields. Runners have views over the sea to Islay, Jura, Gigha, Arran and Ailsa Craig.
Course, services and entries
The course is fully waymarked with pale blue posts and distance markers at 1 mile intervals. GPS tracking is provided for all runners, signal permitting. Finish facilities include showers, free massage and refreshments (soup, burger with a vegetarian option, Danish pastry and tea/coffee). Small solo rucksacks are conveyed from start to finish; drop-bags are taken to two checkpoints and returned to the finish. There is kids entertainment at the finish.
The route is split into three sections:
- Tayinloan - Carradale: 15 miles, 560 m climb
- Carradale - Corrylach: 15 miles, 720 m climb
- Corrylach - Campbeltown: 5 miles, 130 m climb
Entry options include solo or relay teams of 2 or 3 (each relay runner enters separately). Relay runners must provide their own transport to checkpoints. Entry fee examples: Solo £60, Relay £55 per runner (a £2 reduction for certain members). Closing date for entries is 11 Apr 2026; a tiered refund policy applies.
