About the race

The Kintyre Way Ultra takes place on Scotland’s scenic Kintyre Peninsula. Each year the Ultra covers about 33–35 miles, chosen from one of three sections of the 100-mile Kintyre Way: Tayinloan to Tarbert, Tayinloan to Campbeltown, or Machrihanish to Campbeltown. A relay option is available for two or three runners.

The course combines hill paths, forestry tracks, beaches and rocky shorelines, wandering through bluebell woods and gorse, with expansive sea views to Arran, Islay, Jura and Gigha, and from the southern section views of Ailsa Craig and Northern Ireland. The route is fully waymarked (pale blue posts, mile markers), with marshals as needed, refreshments, finish-area massage and showers, drop-bags, water stations, and GPS tracking; profits fund route maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
