About the race
Hyak Passage 25K is a mountain trail race at Snoqualmie Pass that runs from the Hyak Trailhead on the Palouse to Cascades Trail through the Snoqualmie Tunnel to Annette Lake and back. The course covers about 25K (15.5 miles) with roughly 1,800 feet of elevation gain and includes two tunnel passages.
The route begins at Hyak Trailhead, follows the 2.25-mile Snoqualmie Tunnel onto wide gravel, then climbs forested singletrack to Annette Lake. The return follows the same runnable gravel and enters the tunnel a second time to finish at the trailhead. Junctions are marked with yellow and black arrows and pink and black checkered confidence ribbons; runners must wear their bib visibly on the front for timing and check-ins.
The event provides two staffed aid stations. The Lake Aid Station at mile 7 offers water, Open Fuel sports nutrition, snacks, first-aid supplies, and feminine hygiene products; volunteers hike supplies to this location. The Trailhead Aid Station at mile 10.5 includes water, Open Fuel nutrition, a variety of food, gels, first-aid supplies, feminine hygiene products, and serves as the drop-bag and crew-access point. There are course cutoffs at mile 7, mile 10.5, and at the finish; runners who clear the mile 10.5 cutoff receive an official finish even if they finish after the posted finish cutoff.
A headlamp is mandatory for both tunnel passages. Entries include professional race photography, a post-race meal, and a finisher award. The race is organized by Cielo Running and runs on Snoqualmie Tribe ancestral lands. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
