Event
The Tunnel Light Marathon & Half Marathon is scheduled for September 13, 2026 in the Snoqualmie Pass / Hyak area with the finish in North Bend, Washington. Distances offered include:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
Registration is currently paused while organizers work with permitting agencies. A tentative date to resume registration is February 1, 2026, but that depends on permits and approvals.
Course and status
The original Tunnel course is a point-to-point route that started at Snoqualmie Pass and finished in North Bend, and it included running through a dark tunnel. The original course recorded a net elevation loss of just over 2,000 feet at an approximate consistent grade of 2.2%. That original course held USATF Boston certification (WA21010RMB), which allows performances there to be used for Boston Marathon qualification.
Due to recent storm damage, Washington State Parks has stated that no events will be permitted to use the Palouse to Cascade Trail for 2026. Organizers are working with permitting agencies to develop an alternate route, but WA State Parks has not yet confirmed whether alternate courses will be allowed.
