Event Overview
The Hummelstown Hunger Run offers a 5 km run or walk and a 5 mile run. The event takes place at Schaffner Park, at the corner of Poplar Avenue and Water Street in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Hummelstown Food Pantry. The event is described as pet and stroller friendly.
Registration and Participation
All registrants receive a gift bag that includes a race T-shirt; T-shirts are guaranteed for those who register by April 21. Participants and volunteers who bring a non-perishable food item for a collection bin are entered into a drawing for gift certificates from local sponsors.
Post-Race and Prizes
After the event, lunch is provided featuring a pulled pork sandwich and chips from Chick's Tavern and Rubber Soul Brewing Co. A sweet treat from Sweet Dawgs Frozen Desserts is also available for participants and volunteers.
Prizes are awarded for the 5 km and 5 mile runs. The top three male and female finishers overall receive cash prizes and medals. Winner medals and selections from a prize table are awarded to the first and second male and female finishers in each age group, as well as to the first stroller and first dog in each distance category.
