SMT Turkey Trot
The SMT Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning event held in New Cumberland Borough Park, New Cumberland, PA. The event includes a 5K run or walk through the town streets and a Cranberry Challenge that takes place within the 5K course.
- 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk beginning and ending in New Cumberland Borough Park
- Cranberry Challenge a stations-based challenge within the 5K; limited to 125 participants
Packet pickup is available at Fleet Feet Harrisburg, Fleet Feet Mechanicsburg, and the New Cumberland Fire Hall, with additional pickup on race day at New Cumberland Borough Park. The 5K field is limited to 3,000 participants. Professional electronic chip timing is used and participants are requested to wear their bib on the front of their outermost layer and cross the start/finish arch.
The Cranberry Challenge requires participants to complete fitness tests at stations, which include carrying odd objects, bodyweight exercises, and moving weights; coaches from Chaka Crossfit will be on station to offer guidance. Participants in the Cranberry Challenge receive an additional giveaway and top male and female finishers in that challenge receive gift cards to Chaka Crossfit.
Amenities include post race refreshments, a DJ, a pre-race warm-up, a family and finisher photo station, and random on-course prize opportunities. Walkers have a separate start and strollers are welcome toward the back of the starting area; a ramp is available at the curb crossing. There is no awards ceremony; prize winners should check posted results and report to the bandstand to claim awards.
