2026 Holy Trail Running Festival
The Holy Trail Running Festival takes place on 9 May 2026 in Lowestoft, Suffolk, with finish facilities at Nicholas Everitt Park, Oulton Broad. The one-day event is organised under UK Athletics rules and holds an Association of Running Clubs permit number ARC/26/0411.
There are three trail distances on varied Suffolk terrain. Distances and basic format:
- 50 mile circular route with a 15 hour time limit
- 50 km route starting at Holton Village Hall with a 10 hour time limit
- Trail Marathon starting at Walberswick Village Hall with an 8 hour time limit
Courses are not UKA certified so distances are approximate. Minimum ages apply under UKA rules: 20 years for the two ultra distances and 18 years for the marathon.
Race services included in the entry fee cover a unique medal, food and drink at checkpoints, GPS tracking, first aid, a light meal and hot drinks at the finish, and prizes for first to third in Female and Male/Open categories. A race t-shirt can be purchased during entry. Transport notes: railway stations are a short walk for the ultra starts, and a paid bus transfer from the finish to the marathon start is available for £12 per person if booked in advance.
Entries opened 1 June 2025 and close 30 April 2026. Refund and entry transfer rules apply, including scaled refunds up to 12 weeks before the event and entry transfer allowed until midday 25 April 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
