Event overview
The Hillbilly Hike takes place Saturday and Sunday, November 7-8, 2026, at the Summerset Trail area in Carlisle, Iowa. The event includes multiple race options and a virtual race. Organizers anticipate about 650 total entries across the events. The Half Marathon begins in Indianola and finishes in Carlisle; the 10k is a point-to-point course from Summerset State Park to Carlisle; the 5k starts near the Summerset Trailhead.

Logistics and awards
The event is a fundraiser for the Thrive Church Mission Team; proceeds from the Greubel Memorial 5k support college savings plans for three local children. The race offers chip timing, ring-spun shirts, and custom die-cast medals for participants. Bus transportation to the Half and 10k start areas is provided and parking is available at Carlisle High School (430 School Street), Wycoff, and River Bottom Raceway. Packet pick-up and walk-up registration occur on the days before and the morning of the race at listed locations. A bag drop service is provided; bags are organized by bib number and returned to baggage claim at the finish. Portable restrooms are available at start lines and along the half marathon course. Age-division awards and overall trophies are given by race: the Half awards top three men and women in five-year age groups and trophies for the top three overall; the 10k and 5k have age-division awards and trophies as noted by organizers.
