Hillbilly Hike Half Marathon, 10k, and Greubel Memorial 5k : Carlisle, IA
The event offers four race options and serves as a fundraiser for the Thrive church Mission Team and for college savings through the Greubel Memorial 5k. Organizers expect about 650 total entries. Races use chip timing and include a race shirt, a custom die cast medal for finishers, trophies for top overall finishers, and age-division awards.
Course and logistics: the half marathon and the 10k are point-to-point courses along the Summerset Trail and include bus transportation to the start lines. The half marathon begins with a gentle downhill before leveling out toward the finish in Carlisle. Participants can park at Carlisle High School and other nearby lots. There are multiple start lines and a single finish area in Carlisle where music and postrace food are provided, including pie, biscuits and gravy, and chocolate milk. A PR Bell and a free photo booth are available at the finish.
Support and facilities: bag drop is provided at the starts, including a named Hillbilly Bag Drop service; bags are organized by bib number and collected with limited monitoring. Portable restrooms are at start lines; additional restrooms are located along the half marathon course and at start/finish areas for the 10k and 5k.
Packet pickup and walk-up registration are offered on days leading up to and on event day. Shirt sizes are ordered by October 22, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
