Thanksgiving-Themed Run at Gray's Lake Park
The Turkey Trails event takes place at Gray's Lake Park in Des Moines. This Thanksgiving-themed gathering offers various distances and activities for participants. The event features chip-timing with live results and awards for the competitive distances. All participants receive a custom bib, a designer shirt, and a finisher medal.
The following distances are available for participants:
- Kids Dash (50 m) for ages 10 and under
- 1 Mile untimed run
- 5K (3.1 miles) chip-timed race
- 10K (6.2 miles) chip-timed race
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) chip-timed race
The Kids Dash is a short, untimed event where registration includes a mini bib, a youth-sized shirt, and a specific youth medal. Children may participate in the dash for free if they do not require the shirt or medal. For the 1 Mile distance, the event is untimed.
Post-race amenities include free photos and food treats at the finish line. A virtual option is also available for those who cannot attend in person, allowing them to complete their chosen distance at any location to receive the event swag. There is also a volunteer-then-run option where individuals help with event logistics before participating in their preferred distance.
