Event Overview
The Hibiscus City 5k is a running event taking place in downtown Vero Beach, Florida, on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The event was established in 2014 and was formerly known as the Citrus Classic.
Participants can choose from two event types:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5k Virtual Run/Walk
Standard registration for the in-person event is $35, with a reduced rate of $28 for participants aged 17 and younger or 70 and above.
Course and Details
The course for the in-person 5K consists of two loops through downtown Vero Beach and offers views of the adjacent neighborhood. The event uses chip timing.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are given to the overall male and female finishers. First-place awards are also given to male and female participants in ten standard age groups, ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over.
Logistics and Amenities
Packet pickup is available on Friday, March 13, at Runners Depot, and on race morning at Pocahontas Park. Parking is available in the courthouse parking lot. Water is provided at the start/finish area and at the halfway point on the course, with juice and refreshments at the finish. A medical tent and staff are present.
The event allows walkers and participants with strollers. Dogs are not permitted on the course. A race t-shirt is guaranteed for those who register by February 25, 2026. In case of extreme weather, the event will transition to a virtual format.
Beneficiary
The event benefits the Indian River Charter High School sports program. Students from the school assist by distributing water and cheering along the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
