About the race
The HERS Breast Cancer Foundation Walk/Run is an annual fundraising event that supports breast cancer survivors in the San Francisco Bay Area by providing post-surgical products and educational services. The event takes place at Quarry Lakes in Fremont on September 26, 2026, and includes both in-person and virtual participation options.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K Walk (in person or virtual)
- 5K Timed Run
- 10K Timed Run
The event program includes a community expo with healthcare and wellness partners, local businesses, nonprofits, entertainment, giveaways, and themed photo opportunities. A Bollywood dance warm-up led by local instructors is part of the pre-event activities. Registered participants receive a commemorative event t-shirt, a finisher’s medal and race bib, and a light breakfast.
The event also features ceremonies to honor patients and survivors, including a memorial circle and a bell-ringing at the patients and survivors booth. Teams of five or more may form themed groups and compete for first, second, and third place trophies; judging focuses on creativity, enthusiasm, and team spirit.
Volunteer opportunities are available for preparation and event-day roles such as set up, breakdown, and course monitoring. The Walk/Run serves as a community-focused fundraiser for the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization that delivers direct support to people affected by breast cancer.
