The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot
The event is a 5k run, walk, and canicross (dog cross-country) fundraiser held on Thanksgiving Day. The proceeds support various animal welfare organizations. The organizer, The Animal Run, is described as a community of athletes promoting a sustainable world through outdoor exercise and animal kindness, and it encourages support for vegan businesses.
The course is described as flat and fast, with an option to run on mostly dirt and grass and some road.
Registration is available for different categories:
- 5k Solo and virtual runners.
- 5k Canicross for teams with one or two dogs attached to the runner via a specialized harness and bungee system.
- 1 Mile walkers and dog walkers.
- Separate pricing exists for kids 12 and under.
On the event day, there is a welcome, separate starts for canicrossers and solo runners/walkers, a vegan coffee and carbs station, and an awards ceremony. The event has a breakfast sponsor and a prize sponsor.
