The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot
The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot is the third annual Run/Walk and Canicross fundraiser held on Thanksgiving Day at San Leandro Marina Park Parking Lot (South) in San Leandro, California. The event raises funds for animal welfare organizations and promotes vegan businesses and animal kindness.
The event program includes a 5K race, a one mile walk, canicross races where runners compete with one or two dogs attached by a waist belt and a dog harness joined by a bungee or elastic line, and youth events. For participants 12 years old and under who take part in canicross, organizers provide additional safety instructions.
Course details note a flat and fast 5K with options to run mostly on dirt and grass and on some road surfaces. There is a large free parking lot next to the race area and additional street parking if the lot is full. Sponsors named for this edition include a breakfast sponsor and a prize sponsor.
Registration fees vary by category and include higher rates for late or same day registration. A small processing fee applies to each registration.
