The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot
The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot is a fundraiser held on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at San Leandro Marina Park parking lot (south), 14001 Monarch Bay Drive, San Leandro, CA. The event supports animal welfare organizations through vegan-themed foot races.
Racing options include:
- 5K Solo run
- 5K Canicross for one or two dogs attached to the runner
- 1 mile walk and dog walk
- Kids races for ages 12 and under, including kids canicross teams
Canicross pairs runner and dog using a runner waist belt and a specifically designed dog harness connected by a bungee or elastic line to reduce shock. Organizers will provide additional safety instructions for canicross participants aged 12 and under.
The 5K course is flat and mostly on dirt and grass with some road sections. There is a large free parking lot next to the race area and additional street parking near the venue. Registration categories include adult, canicross, virtual entries, and kids options; late and same day registration fees are higher and a small processing fee applies. Vegan coffee and light food will be available and an awards ceremony is planned. This is the event's third annual Run/Walk and Canicross Tofurkey Trot and the specific beneficiary will be announced. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
