Event overview
The Animal Run 5k Tofurkey Trot is a fundraising run/walk and canicross event held at San Leandro Marina on Thursday, November 27, 2025. This is the event's second annual Tofurkey Trot. All proceeds will benefit a Bay Area animal-focused nonprofit; this year’s beneficiary is Herd & Flock Animal Sanctuary in Vacaville, which provides rescued farmed animals a long-term sanctuary.

The event includes a canicross division, in which runners are attached to one or two dogs via a harness and bungee line. The course is generally flat and includes a mix of paved trail, hard-packed gravel or dirt, grass, and some road. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female runners and canicross competitors. Participants who register by the stated deadline are guaranteed T-shirts; the event also offers free on-course photography and a post-race vegan breakfast provided by a local vendor. Registration fees listed for the early period include adult and youth categories and a higher fee for canicross entries; prices increase after the published cutoff date.
