Hen & Cock
Hen & Cock is an event in the Hills and Dales series held at Hen Car Park. The course is approximately 5 km with about 500 m of climb on open mountain terrain. The route is not marked and the start grid reference is 239 275.
Organised by Newcastle AC, the event sets an age requirement: participants must be at least 15 years old before 1 January 2026. Entries open on 20 March 2026 and close on 17 June 2026. Entry fees are shown as £12 for affiliated runners and £14 for unaffiliated runners. The published entry list shows 56 participants so far.
Race rules note that race numbers must be attached to the chest; fixing numbers to shorts may lead to disqualification. Competitors must bring full body cover; in poor conditions runners who fail the kit check at the finish may be disqualified. The route being unmarked means navigation and appropriate kit are the competitor's responsibility.
