Flagstaff to Carlingford
Flagstaff to Carlingford is a mountain race scheduled for Sunday 21 June 2026. The route is listed at approximately 16.7 km with about 1050 m of climb. Terrain is unmarked and navigation and local knowledge are important because visibility can be poor in mist or bad weather. GPS use is not permitted.
The event is organised by Armagh AC as part of the NIMRA Medium Distance Championships and the IMRA Leinster Championships. The Race Director will carry out a mandatory kit check before athletes board the coach to the start. A free coach transfer to the start is available for the first 70 registered athletes. There are no entries on the day and the minimum age for competitors is 17 years.
Mandatory Level C kit to be carried includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, map of the route or area and a compass. The actual kit to be carried during the race may be finalised on the day depending on conditions and will be advised at registration.
Checkpoints on the route include Anglesey Mountain, Clermont, Black Mountain, Carnawaddy Mountain, Windy Gap and Slieve Foye. Prizegiving and refreshments are scheduled afterwards at The Foy Centre, Dundalk St., Carlingford. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
