The Glenmore Challenge Running Festival 2026
The Glenmore Challenge Running Festival is a multi-distance road running event based in Glenmore Valley on the Cooley Peninsula with permit number 25/499. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 10 Mile
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
All routes traverse Glenmore Valley. The Half Marathon and Marathon routes include views over Omeath, Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains. Hydration stations are placed on all routes and participants are encouraged to consider their own self-sufficiency to reduce waste.
Prizes and finisher provisions are listed for every race. All finishers receive a unique medal. Cash prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each race, and trophies are presented to the top three male and female finishers. The 10 Mile race includes age category prizes for first place in O40, O50 and O60 for men and women, and team prizes for first male and first female teams of four. Event t-shirts are available for purchase. The finish area includes a BBQ and served beer for finishers.
Logistics are centred on Mullaghbuoy Community Centre, where parking and race pack collection take place. A transport option is provided for the 5K from the nearby church beside the community centre. Participation requirements include presenting a registration confirmation for check-in, adhering to age minimums with a minimum age of 13 years, and noting the Marathon cut-off time of 6.5 hours after which chip timing will not be available.
