The Glenmore Challenge Running Festival 2026
The Glenmore Challenge Running Festival is a multi-distance road event held in the Glenmore Valley on the Cooley Peninsula. A permit has been approved for the event, cert.no 25/499. The routes for the half marathon and marathon include views over Omeath, Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains.
Distances offered include:
- 5K fast and flat
- 10K road race
- 10 Mile road race
- Half marathon
- Marathon
Finishers receive a unique medal. Cash prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers in all races, and trophies are given to the top three male and female finishers. Additional prizes for the 10 Mile include first place age category awards for O40 O50 and O60 male and female, and team prizes for male and female teams of four. Event t shirts are available for purchase. A finish line area includes a barbecue and beer for finishers.
Practical details include race pack collection at Mullaghbouy Community Centre and ample parking at that location. Buses provide transport for the 5K from the church beside Mullaghbouy Community Centre. Hydration stations are placed on all routes and self sufficiency is encouraged. Participants must bring registration confirmation for check in and number collection and meet minimum age requirements; the minimum age is 13 years. The marathon has a cut off time of 6.5 hours; chipped timing will be unavailable after cut time. The nominated charity for the event is the Maria Goretti Foundation.
