5K Celebration (Fall 5K)
Girls on the Run Greater Knoxville holds a season-closing celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The event serves as the culminating activity for teams and welcomes participants of all abilities to complete a 3.1 mile course at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville, TN.
Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a medal, and program participants receive a commemorative medal to mark the achievement. The council provides running buddies for participants who need or prefer company on the course. Family members, friends and community members may also participate but must register.
The council applies safety and accessibility measures. All participants must wear a race bib, the course is monitored with head counts, and staff and volunteers are trained on an emergency plan. The event is accessible for people with disabilities, allows walking, rolling, pushing or skipping at each participant's pace, and offers designated accessible parking.
Event amenities include water stations, happy hair stations, face painting and merchandise sold by the council. Strollers are permitted with a request that those using strollers start toward the back of the field. Well behaved dogs on leash are allowed, with a request that runners with dogs start toward the back of the field.
Registration has tiered pricing for adults and youth, program participants and coaches are already registered, and non-program prices increase closer to the event date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
