GWTC Pine Run 20K at Tall Timbers
The event takes place on October 10 at Tall Timbers Research Station, 13093 Henry Beadel Drive, Tallahassee, FL. It offers two distances on natural trails and jeep roads.
- 20K trail run on undulating grassy trails
- 14K ruck for participants carrying 10 lbs for women or 20 lbs for men
The 20K course runs counter-clockwise from near the Beadel House and is marked with pink flags and directional signs. The route uses grassy trails and double track jeep roads through pine uplands and Lake Iamonia bottomland and includes several hills, a short out-and-back near mile 5, a repeated stretch around miles 8 to 10, and a section known as "the boot." Water and Gatorade stations for the 20K are located at roughly miles 3, 6, 9, and 11. The 14K ruck course omits the out-and-back, the repeat section, and the boot; ruck stations appear at roughly miles 3, 5.5, and 7.5.
Registration is online only, with member and nonmember options and separate pricing for shirts and race day registration. Both distances have a three hour cutoff; the published approximate paces are about 14.5 minutes per mile for the 20K and 20 minutes per mile for the 14K. Packet pickup is available at the REI Co-op on Thursday evening and on race day. Aid stations include water coolers and port-o-lets at the start and refreshments post race.
