Grit & Grace Trail Race
The event offers two timed competitions held on the same course at Camp GuilRock in Reidsville, North Carolina. The venue is a 210 acre camp with camping available off course and covered check in/out areas. A firepit will be available during the event for participants and spectators.
The course is approximately a 3 mile loop made up of grassy trail, gravel road, single track, and forest road. Terrain is mostly gentle rolling with flat sections. One aid station at the start line area will be stocked with Tailwind, LMNT, and water; participants may bring additional nutrition. Because the event takes place in February short daylight, a personal light source is required or highly encouraged as noted for each competition.
The 12 hour trail race records completed laps for total mileage. Each lap must be finished to count, participants check in and out at each lap, and course direction is reversed at regular intervals. Competitors may withdraw at any time by reporting to race staff. Finisher awards list the distance achieved and overall awards are given to the top two male and female finishers.
The 6 hour ruck uses a weighted scoring system where a participant’s score is weight carried multiplied by lap distance to produce a Kz total. Packs are weighed at prescribed points and the lesser weight for a lap becomes the official value. The Race Passport lap stamp system and the FLAP and SLAP lap formats are used for both events. Canine partners are welcome in the 12 hour event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
