Event overview
The Grit & Grace Trail Race in Reidsville, North Carolina offers two event options: 12-hour trail and 6-hour ruck. Both events take place at Camp GuilRock on a looped course. The 12-hour event records total laps completed within the time period. The 6-hour ruck uses a weighted format where participants earn a score based on the weight carried times lap distance, reported as Kz.
Course and venue
The course is approximately a 3-mile loop of grassy trail, gravel road, single track, and forest road with gentle rolling terrain and stretches of flat. Camp GuilRock is a 210-acre camp in Reidsville. Camping is available off course. Check-in and check-out occur in the indoor pavilion. An aid station is located at the start area and is stocked with Tailwind, LMNT, and water. Participants may bring additional nutrition items.
Format and rules
Laps must be finished to be recorded. Participants may "tap out" by reporting to race staff; this ends their event and a finisher award is issued. For the 12-hour race, awards list the distance achieved. Overall awards are given for first and second male and female in each event. For the 6-hour ruck, packs are weighed before the race and at lap transitions; the official lap weight is the lesser of the weigh-ins and scores are totaled as Kz. A personal light source is required or highly encouraged due to short daylight in February. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
