Grit and Glaze 5K, 1M & Donut Dash
The Grit and Glaze 5K, 1M & Donut Dash is an athletic event held at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Organized by the Iron Girl Project, the event supports scholarship programs for high school student-athletes in memory of Alexea "Lex" Karpinski. The competition takes place on a USATF certified course and proceeds rain or shine.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Run/Walk
- Kids Donut Dash
- Virtual 5K/1M
The 5K Run/Walk is a timed event using chipped bibs. Participants receive live results via text or email and access to finish line photos. Those who register at least three weeks in advance receive personalized bibs. The 1 Mile Run/Walk is an untimed option open to all age groups. For children aged 8 and under, the Kids Donut Dash is an untimed short distance that includes a ribbon.
All in-person participants are served donuts and drinks at the finish line. The event also features a DJ and a merchandise tent selling Iron Girl Project gear. For the 5K event, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three in various age groups ranging from 9 to over 60. A virtual participation option is available for those who wish to complete their distance independently and upload their results online.
