Event Overview
The Great Springs Trail Race takes place at Canyon Park on the north side of San Antonio, Texas. The event is organized by Tejas Trails.
Race Details
The race offers several distances: 5K, 10K, 25K, 50K, and a Youth 1 Mile. The course consists of a single, mostly shaded 7.8-mile loop near the shoreline of Canyon Lake, described as containing technical trails. Runners complete varying numbers of this loop depending on their chosen distance. The event is chip-timed.
Aid and Support
The race is cupless; runners must provide their own hydration cup or bottle. Collapsible cups are available for purchase. There is one full aid station on the course at roughly the halfway point of the loop, plus one at the start/finish area. Additional water and ice stations are placed between these main points.
Logistics and Location
The event hub is at Pavilion 1 in Canyon Park, located at 1769 Canyon Park Rd, Canyon Lake, TX. Closest cities are New Braunfels and San Marcos, with Austin and San Antonio as the nearest larger cities. Parking is available on-site. A $10 spectator fee (cash only) is charged by the park, with children under 8 free. The race supports the Great Springs Project and the Water-Oriented Recreation District (W.O.R.D.) of Comal County.
Additional Information
Packet pickup is available the day before the race and on race morning. Post-race festivities are mentioned. Pacers are not permitted. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top masters male and female (50+) in each distance. A family-friendly environment with yard games is promoted.
