Great South Bay YMCA 5K Run/Walk in memory
This event is a community 5K run and walk held at the Great South Bay YMCA in Bay Shore, New York. It takes place in late May and is organized as an annual in memory event to support friends, neighbors, and families affected by breast cancer. Event amenities include post race awards, prizes, refreshments, and sponsor giveaways. Event shirts are distributed on a first come first serve basis. Results are available live online and by email or text, with free video and same day finish line photos. Miscellaneous photos are shared on social media.
Awards recognize overall top finishers and age group performances. The top overall male and female each receive a one year full adult YMCA membership and a gift basket. Top three male and female finishers in multiple age divisions receive medals; age groups include 15 and under, 16 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, and 80 and over.
Race number pickup is available the day before the event and on race day at the Great South Bay YMCA. Virtual bibs are shipped to participants within a window from one week before the event to one week after the event.
