Great Bentley Trail Runs
The Great Bentley Trail Runs comprise four separate trail rounds held mainly on public footpaths, fields, woods and some roads. Each round is open for one calendar month and the instructions for each round are posted the evening before the round starts. All four rounds must be completed to count towards the GBRC championship, with separate ladies and men’s championship standings.
Scoring is by time: the fastest time in each round scores 100 points, the second fastest scores 99 points, and so on. There are no clipper points or water stations on the routes; there will be a couple of questions to answer on each run, so participants should bring writing equipment and their own water.
Rounds and locations:
- R1: Aldham, 1st to 30th June.
- R2: Capel St Mary, 1st to 31st July; the route is approximately 5 miles, starts on London Road opposite a local restaurant, and uses on-street parking; some fields may have long grass and rabbit holes.
- R3: Stutton near Alton Waters, 1st to 31st August; the course is about 7(ish) miles, venue at Stutton Community Hall and Shop, and the car park is free.
- R4: Hadleigh Suffolk, 1st to 30th September.
Participants must use their own phone to text the organiser at the start and finish, giving full name, member or non-member status, finish time (including seconds if possible) and answers to the questions. Club members who complete all four rounds receive a free t-shirt; non-members who complete all four can purchase a t-shirt at cost. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
