Event overview
ATW Colchester Friday Night Runs is held at Colchester Sports Park, Cuckoo Farm Way, Colchester CO4 5YX. The event incorporates the Essex 5K County Championships. The course is a closed-road, anticlockwise circuit on smooth tarmac. It is traffic-free, flat, and has no sharp bends. All 5 km courses are chip timed and results are published on Power of 10. Each course is officially measured under a UK Athletics licence.

- 1 mile - race and fun run
- 5 km - multiple races including county championship races and elite races
The programme finishes with RCF Orthinas elite women's and men's races. There is an extensive equal prize list for the elite races. Complimentary elite entries are available for athletes who meet recent performance thresholds and can show results on Power of 10.
Eligibility, rules and facilities
Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult who holds a separate ticket. To qualify for the Essex County 5k Championships athletes must be born in Essex or have lived in Essex for the last nine months, be over 18, not have represented another county in the current race year, and enter a valid UKA number and club name at booking while representing first claim club. The organiser does not offer refunds or transfers to another person. Transfers to a future ATW event are permitted up to 48 hours before the event.
