ATW Colchester Friday Night Runs
Active Training World stages a series of evening races at Colchester Sports Park, incorporating the Essex 5K County Championships. The event uses a closed road circuit at the sports park.
The course is anticlockwise, traffic free and laid on smooth tarmac. It is described as pancake flat with no sharp bends and a finish line on the main straight. Each course is run under a full UK Athletics licence and has an official measurement certificate. All 5 km races are chip timed and results are published on Power of 10.
Distances offered include:
- 1 mile fun run
- 5 km road race incorporating the Essex 5K County Championships
Children under eight years must be accompanied by an adult who holds their own ticket. To qualify for the Essex County Championships participants must meet multiple conditions including Essex birth or residency of at least nine months, be over 18 years, not have represented another county in the current race year, represent their first claim club in official kit, and provide a valid UKA number and running club name at booking.
The evening includes designated elite races for women and men with specified qualifying time thresholds. Complimentary elite entries are available to athletes who can evidence qualifying performances on Power of 10. Entry fees range from £16 to £24.
