Event overview

ATW Colchester Friday Night Runs is scheduled for 07/08/2026 at Colchester Sports Park, Cuckoo Farm Way, Colchester, CO4 5YX. The event is organised by Active Training World (ATW). Entry prices are listed in ranges: the 1 mile race is priced at £10–£12 and the 5 km race at £16–£18.

Distances and race format

  • 1 mile (includes a fun run)
  • 5 km (multiple race waves, including county championship and elite races)

The 5 km programme includes several waves based on performance bands and closes with dedicated elite women's and men's races sponsored by RCF Orthinas. Chip timing is used for all 5 km races and results are published on Power of 10.

Course, eligibility and services

The course is a closed, anticlockwise road circuit on smooth tarmac, described as flat with no sharp bends and a finish on the main straight. The event holds a full UK Athletics licence and each course has an official measurement certificate. Free parking is available at the venue via sign-in at the sports centre cafe. The event partners with Alzheimer’s Research UK for fundraising opportunities. ATW’s transfer policy allows transfers to another ATW event up to 48 hours before the event; refunds are not offered.

Championships and entry rules

Chip-timed 5 km results will be merged to produce Essex County 5 km Championship results across male and female categories (Open, V40, V45, V50, V55, V60, V65, V70+ and Teams). To qualify for the Essex Championships competitors must meet residency/birth and age conditions and enter a valid UKA number and club at booking. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult with their own ticket. Complimentary elite entries are available to athletes who meet recent qualifying performance standards, with evidence required on Power of 10.
