Good Samaritan 5K Run
The event in Greenville, North Carolina is an annual fundraiser organized by Hope of Glory Ministries. It offers two running options over the same measured course: a standard 5K and a Cross Training 5K that combines running with exercise stations.
- 5K road run
- Cross Training 5K with six exercise stations
The course starts in Uptown Greenville on Evans Street near The Scullery, goes toward the Town Commons, continues down 1st Street and up 5th Street, passes East Carolina University, and returns to Uptown. The course is USATF certified and water is supplied at each mile marker. Six Cross Training Stations are located shortly before each mile split.
The Cross Training 5K requires completion of specific exercises at the stations with multiple repetitions. Weight exercises are adjusted for fitness and weight requirements. Heats are used to separate beginner, intermediate, and advanced cross training levels.
Proceeds benefit Hope of Glory Ministries and its community programs. The ministry is a 501(c)(3) Christ-centered outreach founded in 2001 that focuses on families in Pitt County. Its Community Food Co-op provides fresh and nonperishable food twice a month, pairs families with mentors, and supports financial stability. Recent impact figures include an average Co-op household income of $32,000 and 31 families served in 2024 with $111,628 in estimated grocery savings.
All participants receive a moisture-wicking race t-shirt; sizes are guaranteed for those pre-registered by September 20. Race-day parking is available in the public lot across from U.B.E., parking decks, and side streets; the U.B.E. lot is not available for race parking.
