Event Details
Peter's Run is a community fundraiser featuring two events: a competitive 5K run and a non-competitive one-mile walk called The Bryant Mile. It takes place in Bear Grass, North Carolina, starting and finishing at the Rose of Sharon Church.
The Events
The event offers two distinct activities:
- Peter's Run 5K: A timed road race. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in several age categories (12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+).
- The Bryant Mile: An untimed, one-mile walk. This event includes a unique tradition where participants stop to eat a donut at the halfway point.
Purpose and Schedule
The event is a fundraiser for Project Empty Tomb. Profits support the Bear Grass Charter School's Food Pantry and the Rodgers Elementary Book Bag Program. A short opening devotion is part of the race day schedule, reflecting the event's inspiration from the biblical story of Peter running to the empty tomb.
After the events, food is provided at the finish line. The event is professionally timed by Run The East. The organizers note that if inclement weather causes a cancellation, there will be no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
