2026 GOFM's Market Mile

The 1-mile event in Galveston is a neighborhood-focused run and walk organized to support food access initiatives. The event takes place along the streets near the local farmers market, with the course starting and finishing at 3304 Market Street. Participant registration supports Groundswell’s Food Access Programming, including voucher initiatives for WIC and seniors.

Participants can choose from three different ways to complete the course:

  • 1 mile neighborhood stroll for all paces, including those with dogs or strollers.
  • 1 mile fun-run for those who prefer a faster pace.
  • The "Cheer & Swag" Path for participants who wish to go directly to the market.

Adult and youth registrations include an official event bib and a shirt, provided the registration is completed by the specified deadline of March 22. The first 100 registrants also receive an commemorative enamel pin. Teams are encouraged, and an award is given to the largest participating group. Participants are also invited to wear costumes for a chance to win the best-dressed award.

The event concludes with a post-race market party. This celebration features live music, local vendors, and refreshing beverages at the weekly farmers market. Packet pickup is scheduled for the Thursday prior to the event at a nearby local coffee shop, with additional pickup options available on the morning of the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
