2026 Preventive Medicine Initiative: Heart & Sole 5K
The 3rd Annual Preventive Medicine Initiative Heart & Sole 5K takes place on May 2, 2026 in Galveston at 2222 28th St, Galveston, TX 77550. The event offers two participation options: an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K. Registration opens February 11, 2026 and there is a limited number of spots.
The in-person 5K concludes with a finisher festival where participants receive snacks, drinks, games, and finisher items while supplies last. Virtual registrants receive a virtual bib and have the opportunity to pick up a packet during the week before the race. All registrants can pick up finisher stickers and prizes after the event while supplies last.
A portion of donations and proceeds will support the Mobility Clinic at UTMB, a student organization that works with the Galveston community on footwear and foot care. As of December 2023 the Mobility Clinic had completed three shoe drives and donated over 600 pairs of shoes.
The event is public and does not require Galveston residency or affiliation with UTMB. Strollers are permitted on the course. Pets are not allowed on the race course but are welcome at the finisher festival. Dates for two beginner friendly training sessions with Run Club at UTMB will be announced separately.
