Event Overview
The Go for the Green 5K Run/Walk takes place on March 14, 2026. It starts at 9:30 AM, rain or shine, from Smithtown Elementary School in Smithtown, New York. A 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk begins at 9:00 AM.
Registration and Fees
Online registration is available. Pricing for the 5K starts at $33.80 (including a processing fee) for early bird registration. Race-day registration is also available. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Course and Logistics
The 5K course is USATF-certified and described as relatively flat, going through residential streets in Smithtown. The route is police-controlled and features water stops and mile splits.
Participant Amenities
A T-shirt is offered to the first 300 registrants. Post-race refreshments, including bakery items, are provided. Participants can bring their race number to Napper Tandy's Irish Pub on race day for one free draft beer.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are given in several categories:
- Trophies for the top 3 overall male and female finishers.
- Medals for the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group, ranging from 12 & under to 80+.
- Ribbons for all participants in the 1 Mile Family Fun Run.
Bib Pickup
Bib pickup is available the day before the race at Smithtown Running Company. Race-day registration and pickup are available at Smithtown Elementary School from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM. Registrants who sign up three weeks in advance receive a personalized race number.
Event Beneficiary
The event is organized by the Rotary Club of Smithtown. All proceeds go to community charities and scholarships, with the club contributing over $40,000 annually to local projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
