Run for the Rescue 5K Trail Run/Walk
This event is a 5K trail run and walk held at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, New York, using park trails and nearby parkland. The course mixes sand, dirt roads, hard packed trails and some pavement. Bathrooms are located within a few minutes walk from the start and finish areas. Hydration is provided at the finish and refreshments are supplied by named vendors.
The park is dog friendly. Dogs must be on leash at all times, must not be left unattended, and participants with dogs are asked to start toward the back of the pack for safety.
Amenities include an informal bag check area in the staging zone and on course facilities as noted above. Bib distribution is offered in person at Picnic Areas 1-5 and also by mail for virtual participants. When wearing a bib place it on the mid torso above the belly button, keep it visible and secure each corner with pins or equivalent fasteners.
Results are available live online and by email or text, with free video and same day finish line photos. Age group recognition includes overall top finishers plus category winners in age brackets from 14 and under through 90 plus. Registration is currently not open. A portion of event proceeds benefits Last Chance Animal Rescue and donations reported to directly impact that organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
