Brush Rabbit 5K Run/Walk
The Brush Rabbit 5K Run/Walk is hosted by Chemical and Salvage Co. 2 of the Lindenhurst Fire Department at the Lindenhurst Fire Dept. Training Grounds, 555 Heling Blvd., Lindenhurst, NY 11757. The event serves as a fundraiser to support the fire company's community outreach programs.
Funds raised support activities such as hosting youth groups, a college scholarship award, fire prevention efforts, a Halloween Trunk or Treat, the holiday parade and Santa Ride, and other local outreach throughout the year.
All registrants receive a post-race medal. The event includes a family area for children and a surprise Easter egg hunt along the route. Live online, text, and email results are provided, and finish-line photos and video are available at no additional charge on race day. Personalized bibs are provided for registrations completed at least three weeks in advance, and event T-shirts are offered for purchase.
Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall, top male and female first responders, the top member and top probationary with a name added to the LFD First Responders Leg Trophy, and the top two men and top two women in the following age groups: 13-16, 17-20, 21-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, and 55+. Bib pickup is handled by event staff beginning one hour before the event, with a self-lookup area for participants who do not know their bib number.
