2026 Brush Rabbit 5K Run/Walk
The Brush Rabbit 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held at the Lindenhurst Fire Dept. Training Grounds in Lindenhurst, New York. Hosted by the Chemical and Salvage Co. 2 of the Lindenhurst Fire Department, the event takes place in a rain or shine format.
Participants can choose from the following distance:
- 5 km Run/Walk
The course features a surprise Easter Egg Hunt for participants to discover along the route. Residents and visitors can participate as individuals or choose to form teams with friends and family. Registrants who sign up at least three weeks before the event will have their names printed on their race bibs.
Amenities for the event include:
- Post-race medals for all finishers
- Dedicated area for children to play
- Live results provided via text and email
- Free finish-line photography and video
- T-shirts available for purchase
Awards are presented to the top three male and female overall finishers, as well as the top male and female first responders. Additional performance recognition is provided for the top members and probationary members of the Lindenhurst Fire Department, alongside the top two male and female finishers in age groups ranging from 13-16 to 55 and over.
The race serves as a fundraiser for the Chemical and Salvage Co. 2 to support community outreach initiatives. These programs include fire prevention education, college scholarship awards, and seasonal community events such as the Halloween Trunk or Treat and the Holiday Parade.
