Go for the Green 5K Run/Walk
The event listing includes details from the March 14, 2026 edition of the Go for the Green 5K Run Walk held at Smithtown Elementary School, 51 Lawrence Ave., Smithtown. The program features two distances:
- 5K Run Walk
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run Walk
Amenities noted for the event include event tees provided to the first 300 registrants, professional race announcing, raffle prizes, and post race refreshments including bakery items and awards. Participants who present their race number were offered one free draft beer at Napper Tandys Irish Pub on race day.
Awards include trophies to the top three overall male and female finishers and medals to the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups. Age groups listed are ages 12 and under, 13 to 15, 16 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, and 80 and over. Ribbons were provided to all participants in the one mile family run.
Pre race bib pickup was scheduled the day before at Smithtown Running Company, 91 E. Main St., Smithtown, NY 11787, with day of race pickup available at Smithtown Elementary School. The course is USATF certified and described as relatively flat through residential streets on a police controlled route with water stops and mile splits.
