Go for the Green 5K Run/Walk
The Go for the Green event includes a main 5K run/walk and a 1 mile family fun run/walk. It is based at Smithtown Elementary School in Smithtown, New York, and uses residential streets on a police controlled route.
The 5K course is USATF certified and described as relatively flat, with water stops and mile splits. Event amenities noted by the organizer include participant tees for the first 300 registrants, professional race announcing, raffle prizes, and post race refreshments including bakery items. Participants who bring their race number may receive one free draft beer at Napper Tandy's Irish Pub on race day.
Awards are offered on finish: trophies for the top three overall men and women, and medals for the top three in each age group from 12 and under through 80 and over. Ribbons are given to participants in the 1 mile family fun run.
Bib pickup is available before race day at a local running store and on race morning at Smithtown Elementary School; day of registration and number pickup are offered.
