Punta Gorda 5K - Girls on the Run Southwest Florida
The Punta Gorda 5K is a season-closing, celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and builds confidence through completion. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2026, at South County Regional Park, 670 Cooper St, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and the event is presented as a non-competitive celebration. Registered participants complete the course at their own pace; the fastest finishers may complete the course in about 25 minutes while many finish in 30 to 50 minutes. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are already registered by the council and do not need separate registration. Non-program participants must register and the price increases three weeks before the event. Current listed registration prices are Adult $40 and Youth under 18 $30.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place: all participants must wear a race bib, each program participant is assigned a running buddy for the full course, the council monitors the course with head counts, and a safety plan guides staff and volunteers. The event includes a pre-race festival and on-site activities such as face painting, water stations, happy hair stations, merchandise sales, and designated accessible parking.
