Punta Gorda 5K
The Punta Gorda Girls on the Run 5K is a season-closing, celebratory event hosted by Girls on the Run Southwest Florida. It is scheduled for Saturday December 5, 2026 at South County Regional Park, 670 Cooper St, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
The event is a non-competitive 5K (3.1 miles) that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches have already been registered and do not need to register. Non-program family, friends, and community members may participate but must register; registration fees listed are Adult $40 and Youth under 18 $30, with a price increase for non-program participants three weeks before the event. All registrants sign liability waivers.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place. Every participant must wear a race bib, a running buddy is designated to accompany a program participant for the entire course, and the council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and uses a safety plan for staff and volunteers. The course is accessible for walking, running, pushing, or rolling, and designated parking is available.
Event amenities and services include water stations, face painting, happy hair stations, and a merchandise booth supporting council programs. Local nonprofits are invited to have a presence at the finish line, volunteer roles support event operations, and sponsorships help provide scholarships, program materials, and race day elements.
