5K Celebration

The Girls on the Run South Louisiana 5K is a season-closing, celebratory event held in November 2026 at two locations: Baton Rouge (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, 5525 Reitz Ave) and Lafayette (Moncus Park, 2913 Johnston St). The event marks the end of the program season and provides participants with a tangible sense of accomplishment.

The course length is 5K (3.1 miles). Every registered program participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. The event includes an Inspiration Village, water stations, a Happy Hair Station, inspirational bandanas, and merchandise sales. Parking is available on site in Baton Rouge; Lafayette offers free parking and a shuttle to the park. Designated accessible parking spots are provided and the course is described as available to participants who walk, run, push, or roll.

Safety measures include required race bibs, assignment of a running buddy for each participant, course monitoring, head counts, and a council safety plan with staff and volunteer training. A running buddy may be assigned by the council or designated by a parent or guardian; parent running buddies are encouraged.

Registration fees for non-program participants are tiered: early bird $25 (September 7 to September 18), general online $30 (September 19 to November 12), and day-of in-person $40. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered and do not need to register. Volunteers support set-up, registration, water stations, cheer stations and other roles; volunteers appointed through the council undergo background checks.
