Girls on the Run South Louisiana Lafayette 5K Celebration
The event is a fall closing 5K organized by Girls on the Run South Louisiana. The 5K (3.1 miles) is presented as a celebratory, noncompetitive event that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
Two local sites are listed for the Fall 5K dates in November 2026: Baton Rouge at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, 5525 Reitz Ave., and Lafayette at Moncus Park, 2913 Johnston St. The Lafayette site offers free parking and a shuttle; Baton Rouge offers free parking on site. Designated accessible parking spots are available and the course is described as accessible for participants who walk, roll, push or run at their own pace.
Safety procedures include mandatory race bibs, assignment of a running buddy for each participant, course monitoring with head counts, and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers on emergency response. A running buddy may be a parent or another designated adult.
Registration fees are tiered by date: an early bird online rate, a later online general rate, and an in-person day of registration rate. Program participants and coaches are noted as already registered and do not need to register. Volunteers support set-up, registration, Inspiration Village, water and cheer stations, happy hair, running buddies, and other roles; certain volunteer appointments require a background check.
