About the race
Girls on the Run South Louisiana stages an end-of-season 5K celebration that gives program participants a concrete sense of accomplishment for completing the program. The event is a noncompetitive, community-focused 5K (3.1 miles) designed so participants can walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
The 2026 Fall 5K is scheduled for November 14 and November 15 with site locations in Baton Rouge at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana (5525 Reitz Ave.) and in Lafayette at Moncus Park (2913 Johnston St.). Parking is available onsite in Baton Rouge; Lafayette offers free parking plus a shuttle to the park. The event includes on-site features such as Inspiration Village, water stations, happy hair stations, inspirational bandanas and a merchandise tent.
Registration pricing varies by date and is tiered for early, general and day-of registration; program participants and coaches are registered through the council and do not need to register separately. The council requires race bibs for safety, assigns a running buddy to each participant, monitors the course with head counts and maintains a safety plan for staff and volunteers. Volunteer roles include set-up and tear down, registration, Inspiration Village support, water and cheer stations and running buddy duties; volunteers appointed through the council undergo background checks.
