Girls on the Run South Louisiana 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run South Louisiana 5K Celebration is the end of season closing event held on November 14 and November 15, 2026. Events take place in Baton Rouge at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, 5525 Reitz Ave., and in Lafayette at Moncus Park, 2913 Johnston St. The event is a celebratory 5K; a 5K distance equals 3.1 miles.
The event is designed to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Crossing the finish line is framed as a confidence-building moment. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register again.
Safety and accessibility are addressed in multiple ways. Every participant must wear a race bib and have a running buddy for the entire course. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan that trains staff and volunteers on emergency response. The course is described as accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking spots are available.
Additional event elements include Inspiration Village, water stations, happy hair stations, inspirational bandanas and merchandise for sale. Volunteer roles listed by the council include set-up and tear down, registration, Inspiration Village support, water stations, cheer stations, happy hair station and running buddies.
