Girls on the Run East Central Ohio 5K Celebration
This event is an end of season 5K celebration organized by Girls on the Run East Central Ohio. It is designed as a closing event for program participants and aims to give them a tangible sense of accomplishment by completing a 5K course of 3.1 miles. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
The event takes place on November 7, 2026 at Jackson North Park. Program participants and coaches are already registered by the council and do not need to register again. Community registration is available with tiered pricing: Early Bird $35, Regular $45, and Late $50; late registrants may not be guaranteed a shirt.
Packet pickup is available for community participants on Wednesday, November 4, 4:00-7:00 pm at the Girls on the Run office, 237 Tuscarawas St. W., Canton, Ohio 44702, and on Friday, November 6, 4:00-7:00 pm at Jackson North Park. Running Buddy bibs are distributed by coaches at practice the week of the 5K, and running buddies may also attend packet pickup to claim shirts. Girls in the program receive bibs and shirts from their coach.
The event is described as inclusive and accessible; participants can walk, run, roll or push at their own pace and designated parking spots are available. Safety measures include required race bibs, assigned running buddies, course monitoring and head counts, and an established safety plan. Volunteers support setup, registration, course marshals, water and cheer stations, and activity stations such as face painting and happy hair. A virtual 5K option is also offered.
