The Great Pumpkin Race : 28th Anniversary
The Great Pumpkin Race is an in-person community running event held on October 31, 2026 at the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2950 Whipple Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708. The event includes multiple short-distance road events and community activities and is presented as a family friendly, inclusive gathering.
Race distances and event types:
- 100 Yards for Ages 7 and under (untimed)
- 1 Mile Special Olympian entry (untimed)
- 1 Mile Run/Walk (timed)
- 4 Miles Special Olympian entry (timed)
- 4 Miles Run/Walk (timed)
Headquarters offer inside holding areas and restroom facilities. Wheelchairs, strollers and dogs are welcome. Additional on-site activities include pumpkin cart racing, pumpkin decorating and a Guess the Weight of the Giant Pumpkin contest. Packet pickup is available on the days before and the day of the event. The event is offered only in person; no virtual option is available.
Awards are given to top overall male and female finishers and to the top male and female finishers in multiple age groups, plus a largest team category. A long-sleeve tee is provided to registrants and a no-shirt discount of $8 is offered. Special Olympians may register at Special Olympian pricing; buddies or caregivers may walk at no cost without a race number, shirt or finisher medal.
