The Great Pumpkin Race
The Great Pumpkin Race is an in-person community running event held at the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2950 Whipple Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708. The event includes road races, family activities, and seasonal attractions such as pumpkin cart racing and pumpkin decorating. The race headquarters provides indoor holding areas and restroom facilities. Wheelchairs, strollers and dogs are welcome.
Race options include:
- 100 Yards Lil' Pumpkin Dash (ages 7 and under), untimed.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, untimed.
- 4 Miles Run/Walk, timed and eligible for the challenge series.
- Shirt only purchase option.
Special Olympian pricing is available for athletes with developmental disabilities. Buddies or caregivers may walk at no cost; they do not receive a race number, shirt, or finisher medal. Finisher medals are given for the 100 Yard and 1 Mile events; the 4 Mile awards top finishers.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female overall finishers and top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups, plus a prize for the largest team by registrants across the Lil Pumpkin Dash, 1 Mile, and 4 Mile.
A long-sleeve tee is provided to registrants; a No Shirt discount is offered. Proceeds support Special Olympics athletes in Stark County. Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
