Trail Running at Gator Wilderness Camp
The Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run/Walk takes place on the 250-acre grounds of the Gator Wilderness Camp School in Punta Gorda, Florida. Participants run through a landscape characterized by diverse woods and shaded hammocks. The event serves as a fundraiser, with all race entry proceeds benefiting the Gator Wilderness Camp School, a residential program for adolescent males.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different participants:
- 15 km
- 10 km
- 5 km
- Kids Fun Dash (ages 2-12)
- Virtual Race
The course is a trail run, and due to the terrain, running strollers and pets are not permitted on the tracks. For the standard distances, participants must follow specific age guidelines: the 5 km is open to ages 8 to 80, while the 10 km and 15 km events are intended for participants aged 19 to 75.
Post-race amenities include a variety of food options such as biscuits and gravy, bacon hash brown casserole, sausage, fruit, and acai bowls. Awards are presented to overall male and female finishers, masters finishers in the 5 km, and the top three finishers in five-year age groups across all three main distances. Registrations completed by April 1 include a guaranteed event shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
