The event is limited to 100 runners. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the first masters male and female. All finishers receive socks, a finisher sticker and an award. The event donates $10 from each registration to Polk County Parks and Recreation for park maintenance.
Course and event details
The course uses the park’s mountain bike trails that run through an old, abandoned phosphate mine area. Trails include sand and dirt surfaces with rolling, twisting hills and are marked with over 600 markers. The basic loop is a 10k circuit; the 30k is three loops and the 50k is five loops. Aid is provided at the start/finish area and there is an additional aid station around the 3.5 mile point offering electrolytes, soda and water. The race has a 10 hour cutoff (equivalent to a 19:20 per mile pace). Food at the start/finish area includes quesadillas, hot dogs, hamburgers and bacon, with additional cooked food provided for longer-distance participants.
