Funest 50k @ Carter Rd : Mulberry, FL : April 17, 2027
The event offers three trail distances on the mountain bike network at Loyce E. Harpe Park in Mulberry, Florida. The course is a 10k loop used for the race; the 30k covers three loops and the 50k covers five loops. Trails run through an old abandoned phosphate mine area and consist of sand and dirt surfaces with rolling hills and technical turns. The organizer notes there are more than 600 course markers.
Aid support includes electrolytes, soda and water at the start area and an aid station near the 3.5 mile point. The field is limited to 125 runners across the 10k, 30k, and 50k distances. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women and to the first masters man and woman. Every finisher receives socks, a finisher sticker, and an award. A portion of registration proceeds is allocated to Polk County Parks and Recreation.
Food is available at the start and finish area, including quesadillas, hot dogs, hamburgers, bacon, and additional items. For the longer distances there is cooked chicken later in the day and pulled pork or brisket served after mid morning.
