Event Overview
Ragnar Trail Florida is a team-based relay event held at Alafia River State Park in Lithia, Florida. Located approximately 30 miles southeast of Tampa, the course features a variety of landscapes including shaded pine forests, giant ferns, palm trees, and equestrian tracks. The terrain is situated at sea level with minimal elevation gain and includes sections of Floridian sand.
Participants can enter the event under several team categories:
- Standard Team: Consists of 8 runners completing the course over two days and one night.
- Ultra Team: Consists of 4 runners completing the course over two days and one night.
- Sprint Team: Consists of 3 runners completing the course in a single day.
- Individual: Options for individual trail runners are also available.
Course Details
The total distance for the relay is 126.4 miles, with an average of 15.8 miles per runner. The total elevation gain for the entire course is 5,248 feet, which averages to 656 feet of gain per runner. Participants navigate three unique trail loops starting and finishing at the central village.
Village and Amenities
The event hub, known as Ragnar Village, serves as the base for teams. The village provides communal areas for campfires, s'mores, and music. Additional amenities include yoga sessions, food trucks, and partner giveaways. For overnight stays, participants can utilize provided camping areas, with options for glamping or tent rentals. The December timing of the event includes holiday-themed decor and festivities.
Weather and Gear
