Your Next Step Is the Cure 5K
The Your Next Step Is the Cure 5K is an annual event held at Alderman's Ford Park in Plant City, Florida. Now in its ninth year, the race is organized by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to support awareness and research for Ocular Melanoma, a rare form of cancer. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to research laboratories at the Moffitt Cancer Center to assist in the development of new treatment strategies.
The event features two primary participation options:
- 5K Run
- Virtual Run 5K
The 5K Run is chip-timed and open to participants between the ages of 8 and 100. All runners and walkers who complete the distance receive a finisher medal and a race shirt. The event includes an awards ceremony where the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 8-14 to 70 and above, are recognized.
In addition to the race, the event site hosts exhibitors and offers free race photos for participants. There is also an opportunity for attendees to win prizes.
