Frosty Moss Relay
Frosty Moss Relay is a team relay on the Olympic Peninsula offering two distances. The event route combines paved sections and singletrack trail through coastal and forested landscapes near Port Angeles.
The distances:
- Full Moss: 80 Miles relay along the Olympic Discovery Trail and the Adventure Route.
- Mini Moss: 30 Miles begins at Ediz Hook and uses portions of the Olympic Discovery Trail.
Teams are composed of runners who alternate legs while support vehicles move between exchanges. Team sizes are specified as 2 to 5 runners for the Full Moss and 2 to 4 runners for the Mini Moss. Runners tag teammates at relay exchanges until the finish line.
Course highlights include the Sol Duc River, Blyn, Leg 3 at Lake Crescent with the restored McPhee Tunnel and a bridge view of Devil’s Punchbowl, 25 miles of trail on the Adventure Route, the suspended Elwha River Bridge, and the Dungeness River Bridge with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe artwork. A notable large slug feature is located on Leg 4.
After the race, 7 Cedars Resort hosts hot food, cold drinks, music, and awards. A portion of event proceeds is donated to exchange host organizations, Clallam County ARES, Clallam County CERT, and the Peninsula Trails Coalition.
