Frightening 4K : Anchorage, Alaska
The Frightening 4K is offered as both an in-person event in downtown Anchorage and a virtual option. The in-person event is staged from the Hotel Captain Cook 4th Avenue courtyard and uses an out-and-back 4K course. The course starts near 4th Avenue and I Street, travels along H Street, Christiansen Drive, 1st Avenue, Cordova Avenue, and Ship Creek Avenue before returning to a separate finish on 4th Avenue.
The event includes on-course trick-or-treat stations at each kilometer and themed finish-line activities. A costume contest will be held for in-person participants before the race, with a separate virtual costume contest that requires a costume photo uploaded by October 29. Prizes are awarded for the best and runner-up individual costumes, and for best and runner-up team or family costumes. Race awards also include prizes for the top three male and female finishers.
Packet pickup is available on October 28, October 29, and October 31 at listed downtown locations. Virtual participants can request packet shipping or pick up; shipping within Alaska is free, out-of-state shipping to the lower 48 and Hawaii carries a $5 fee. Event policies restrict pets, bicycles, and rollerblades; participants with baby joggers or strollers are asked to start near the back. Parking is available in downtown garages and on streets, with participants asked to be mindful of road closures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
