Frightening 4K in downtown Anchorage
The Frightening 4K is a Halloween themed run staged from the Hotel Captain Cook courtyard in downtown Anchorage. The event offers an out and back 4K course that travels along I Street, 4th Avenue, H Street, Christiansen Drive, 1st Avenue, Cordova Street, and Ship Creek Avenue before returning to finish on 4th Avenue.
Participants encounter a trick or treat station at each kilometer on course. There is a costume contest with separate options for in person and virtual participants; prizes are awarded to top individual and group costumes as well as to the top three male and female runners. Event swag includes a long sleeve shirt with glow in the dark artwork and treats on course.
The in person event takes place on October 31, 2026. A virtual option is available to complete between October 24 and October 31, 2026. Virtual registrations receive packet shipping options including free in state shipping and a $5 fee for shipping outside Alaska to the contiguous United States and Hawaii. Packet pickup is scheduled on October 28 and October 29 at Skinny Raven Downtown and on October 31 at the Hotel Captain Cook 4th Avenue courtyard.
The event supports the Trick or Treat in the Heat fundraiser. Skinny Raven will match up to $500 of funds raised for that cause through event registration. Safety policies restrict pets, bicycles, and rollerblades and request that participants with strollers start toward the back of the field.
