Frightening 4K : Anchorage, AK (October 2026)
The Frightening 4K is a Halloween-themed 4-kilometer run/walk held in downtown Anchorage with both an in-person event and a virtual option. The in-person event is staged from the Hotel Captain Cook 4th Avenue courtyard and follows an out-and-back course that travels along I Street, 4th Avenue, H Street, Christiansen Drive, 1st Avenue, Cordova Street, and Ship Creek Avenue, with the start and finish at separate locations on 4th Avenue.
The event features trick-or-treat stations positioned at each kilometer along the course, post-finish activities at the finish area, and event swag that includes a long-sleeve T-shirt and Halloween treats. A costume contest is held for both in-person and virtual participants; virtual entrants must upload costume photos by October 29. Prizes are awarded for individual and group costume winners, and the top three male and female runners receive awards.
Registration offers tiered pricing and family or team discounts: families and teams of three or more receive a $5 reduction per person once the third member registers, applied as an automatic refund to the first two registrants. Packet pickup locations include Skinny Raven Downtown and the Hotel Captain Cook courtyard; virtual participants can request packet shipping with free in-state shipping and a $5 fee to ship to the lower 48 or Hawaii. For safety, no pets, bicycles, or rollerblades are allowed; participants with strollers are asked to start toward the back of the field.
