Skinny Raven Turkey Trot
The Skinny Raven Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day running and walking event in downtown Anchorage staged from the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation on the same calendar day.
Two course distances are available:
- 5K
- 2 Mile
The in-person event uses a downtown course with an indoor finish inside the Dena'ina Center. Awards include prizes for the top three overall in each gender in the 5K and pies for age class winners; age classes span 1-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+ for both men and women. A bag drop is provided at the finish area and limited race-day bib pickup is available in addition to multiple pre-event pickup options. Virtual participants can complete their distance on event day and may request mailed packets; shipping options include free in-state mailing and a paid option for out-of-state shipping.
The event partners with the Food Bank of Alaska. Registrations and a concurrent food drive collect donations; the 2026 goal is $15,000 and 1,000 pounds of food. A long-sleeve tech shirt is included with registration, with an option to donate the shirt value to the Food Bank. Event safety policies restrict pets, bicycles, and rollerblades on the course; participants with strollers are asked to start toward the back of the field.
