Turkey Trot Anchorage
The Turkey Trot is a traditional Thanksgiving Day event held in downtown Anchorage. Participants can choose between two main distances for the in-person event, both starting near the ConocoPhillips building at 8th Avenue and G Street.
- 5 km
- 2 mile
For the in-person experience, the event features a finish line located inside the Dena'ina Civic & Convention Center, providing an indoor space for participants to gather. Those who prefer a flexible schedule can opt for the virtual event, which allows runners and walkers to complete their chosen distance on any route and upload their results on the same day.
The event partners with the Food Bank of Alaska to collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations. Participants receive a long-sleeve tech shirt as part of their registration, though there is an option to skip the shirt in favor of a donation to the food bank.
Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers in the 5 km for each gender. Additionally, winners in various age classes, ranging from under 15 to over 80, receive a fresh pie. The same applies to the top three finishers aged 10 and under in the shorter distance. A bag drop service is available at the Dena'ina Center, and parking is located in nearby downtown garages and streets. For safety reasons, pets, bicycles, and rollerblades are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
