Freedom Four
The Freedom Four is an annual athletic event held in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Organized by the Glen Ellyn Park District, this event takes place on July 4th and features a course that starts and finishes at Lake Ellyn Park. The race is open to participants aged 5 and up.
The event offers a single distance for participants:
- 4 Mile Run/Walk
A portion of the proceeds from the entry fees is donated to the Friends of Glen Ellyn Parks Scholarship Fund. This fund assists families by providing access to recreation and athletic programs. Awards are presented to the top two male and female finishers in each age division following the conclusion of the event.
Participants who register by the early bird deadline of June 20, 2026, are guaranteed an event t-shirt. For those registering after this date or on the day of the race, shirts are provided based on availability.
Pre-race packet pick-up is available at the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center on St. Charles Road during the week leading up to the event. For those unable to attend early pick-up, race day packet pick-up is located at Lake Ellyn Park. Due to restricted parking on the streets surrounding the park, participants are encouraged to use commuter parking lots or the Civic Center parking garage. Limited parking is also available at the Glenbard West parking lot, though vehicles must be removed by mid-morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
